| More news on the KISS Kollector trip to New York | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
|
Especially since the chances of a European tour are becoming smaller and smaller, interest for our trip to New York, to see the four expected farewell shows at Madison Square Garden, is still growing and we are currently in the process of finalizing details. Based upon the information we have at the moment (still awaiting the official announcement of these dates), the trip will be from September 20-27 and includes roundtrip air fare from Amsterdam to Newark airport (or JFK airport), transfer airport-hotel-airport, 6 nights hotel in Manhattan, all hotel and airport taxes, concertticket, etc. for only 1800 Dutch guilders.
We are also planning a few sightseeing trips during the stay in New York which is likely to include stops at the following spots: the legendary loft where KISS rehearsed in the old days, appartment where Paul Stanley used to live in 1972, Electric Lady Studios, USS Intrepid, Bellevue Hospital (where Eric Carr passed away) and Eric Carr's final resting place. If you'd like to book this trip, please hurry and send e-mail to: kiss@animalize.com. |

| Tale Of The Fox and Runaway on DVD | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, RH - | ||
"This 80-minute DVD documentary provides insight into the extraordinary life of Eric Carr, former drummer for Kiss, who died, prematurely, in 1991. The video includes unreleased music written and performed by Eric from his pre-Kiss and Kiss days, plus interviews with Bill Aucoin, Bruce Kulick, Carrie Stevens, members of Slaughter, Fred Coury and more. This DVD is an all-region format DVD which includes 30 minutes of additional footage, unreleased material and tribute songs from Eric's contemporaries in the music world. A portion of each sale of this video will be donated to the Eric Carr Foundation." On August 22 the 1984 movie Runaway will be released on DVD for the first time. Runaway stars Gene Simmons in his first big (and to this day best) Hollywood movie role. The movie deals with a police officer who specializes in runaway robots in the near future. When a robot becomes homicidal, he begins to unravel the plot of a villain called Charles Luther (Gene Simmons) to create killer robot weapons, and then the policeman (Tom Selleck) becomes a target himself. Runaway will only be available as a Region 1 (USA and Canada) DVD, which contains both a full-screen (1,33:1) and an anamorphic widescreen (2,35:1) version of the movie. Pre-orders for both DVD's can be placed at Express.com and DVD Empire. Runaway is also available from Amazon.com and most other online DVD retailers. |

| KISS special on German TV | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
| On July 29 Germany's ZDF channel airs a KISS special in the middle of the night: 2.45 AM (CET). The name of the show is Pop-Galerie, but it's unknown at this moment what the contents of the special will be. It might be the same, awesome, special as the German/French art channel Arte aired not too long ago. | ||
| Several KISS DVD's in Holland | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
In further DVD news, over the last few weeks we've been bombed by e-mails from fans wondering if there are any KISS DVD's available in Holland. As we reported a while ago, The Second Coming has officialy been released on DVD in Holland. The US version is also available on import.
The movie Detroit Rock City has not officialy been released in Holland (yet - the VHS rental version will be available in September) but can be ordered on DVD by your local record/DVD store, just like the KISS related movies Red Surf and Trick Or Treat. These imports are usually Region 2 UK releases. One of the stores where you can get Detroit Rock City is VanLeest, who also will carry the KISS: Psycho Circus game soon. Pictured is the cover of the UK DVD release of Detroit Rock City. |

| No Alive IV..? | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
| Many rumors have been making the rounds ever since it was announced that Alive IV has been 'delayed'. The band said they missed the deadline to hand in the live album. There was even talk of an expanded double version of the band's fourth live disc. Turns out KISS doesn't agree with the conditions the record company set. So it doesn't seem very likely Alive IV will ever see the light of day on Universal's Mercury label. | ||
| Gene faxes updates to KISS Kollector | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
For years I have been bugging Gene about a possible autobiography, and he always stated that the time was not right or just simply said "no". In the recent questionnaire I again asked him about his autobiography. As we all know right now, Gene's autobiography is due out in two years. So this time around Gene answered: "The deal is done with Crown Books." As for the Farewell Tour, I wondered if it was a tough decision at all and Gene states: "Better to go out on top." And when asked if there's going to be another album after Alive IV since there might be a contractual obligation, the Demon says: "Wait and see." I guess that's indeed all we can do. Meanwhile check out the scan of the questionnaire for the other questions Gene answered. |

| Record Collector loves KISS Kollector | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
| England's collectors magazine Record Collector once again has a very positive review of an issue of KISS Kollector magazine. In their May issue Record Collector is reviewing the February issue of KISS Kollector. The review says: "Another 40 fantastic pages of A5 mayhem kovering the krazy kuartet (That's enough K's - Ed.) is resplendent with its usual gallery of gargoyle grotesques in both colour and b&w. Amid the sumptuous design are tour details and other news items, a detailed '99 live show summary - including the New Year's Eve gig in Vancouver - and a brief Paul Stanely Q & A. There's 'insider' speculation on the future of KISS, the story of Ace Frehley, and asides on Eric Singer and Bruce Kulick. Computer games, bootlegs and Union news. Hell, it's a monster!" | New Pantera video features KISS | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
| The video for Pantera's new single Revolution Is My Name features quite some KISS. Besides actual KISS footage there are a few KISS lookalikes showing up in the video. Nine Inch Nails' video for Starfucker Inc also has some KISS (a picture of Gene) in it. | ||
