||
| KISS to be inducted into Hollywood's Walk of Fame | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
| KISS is amongst the 'lucky few' approved to be inducted into Hollywood's Walk of Fame next year. Less than 20 celebrities out of hundreds of nominations will be honored with a star on the legendary Walk of Fame. KISS already has a spot on the Rock Walk (or in fact Paul, Gene and Bruce plus Eric Carr, whereas Peter and Ace both have their own spots) outside of Guitar Center, but next year the band will also be immortalized in cement with a star on the actual Walk of Fame along Hollywood Blvd. Time and date for the special ceremony are still to be determined. | ||
| Gene to appear in Everclear's new video | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
| The first single off the upcoming Detroit Rock City soundtrack is expected to be Everclear's cover of the Thin Lizzy classic The Boys Are Back In Town. At first, it seemed Marilyn Manson would be the first to shoot a video (for their cover of AC/DC's Highway To Hell), but this Tuesday and Wednesday Everclear will be shooting a video in Los Angeles. Gene along with some of the movie's other stars will appear in the video. The video is to be co-directed by Everclear's frontman Art Alexakis and Detroit Rock City director Adam Rifkin. The Detroit Rock City soundtrack album is expected to be out on August 3. | ||

| According to Gene there is no farewell tour yet | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
|
The 'Metal Wire' on the Metal Edge web site reports that Gene insists it hasn't been decided yet that the next tour will be a farewell tour. Recently Ace announced the final tour of the original line-up in make-up. The Spaceman's much-talked-about announcement caused for rumors claiming the band will call it quits on December 31. Some fans have already stated they hope KISS will continue in the new Millennium with the band's former guitarist and drummer: Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer. This is the full story from Metal Edge Online:
"Gene Simmons says that the massive book KISSTORY II: Toys, Games & Girls Collectors Bible "blows the first one away," and if you're into all matter of KISS collectibles and/or scantily clad women, you'll agree. A sneak peek at the unbound pages confirms that just about every imaginable item of KISS merchandise is photographically covered in the weighty tome, not to mention 40 or so females in KISS make-up and little else (there's a six foot foldout poster that comes with it, a different pose for every thousand in the print run). Call (800) 905-KISS to order." "As for Ace Frehley's much-talked-about radio interview that characterized KISS' fall road trip as a farewell tour, Simmons insists that hasn't been decided. Meanwhile, he's devoting his attentions to a variety of film projects that will follow Detroit Rock City, including another collaboration with DRC director Adam Rifkin, Real Monsters, and Groupies, both for New Line Cinema. The latter is about two small town girls whose lives are changed by a visiting rock band. Real Monsters, which Rifkin will write and direct, is a horror-comedy that follows two dock workers who inadvertently release three monsters when they open the wrong crate. Rifkin came up with the idea for the Detroit Rock City poster, a great cartoon illustration by Phil Roberts. It's reminiscent of the Sgt. Pepper's album cover meets Where's Waldo? and includes KISS, the entire cast, and production team. It will be available at Spencer Gifts and other stores." |

| Paul as The Phantom in Toronto | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
|
On May 25 'The Starchild' changed into 'The Phantom'. That day Paul Stanley started portraying the leading role in the legendary Andrew Lloyd Webber musical The Phantom Of The Opera at Toronto's Pantages Theatre. The theatre is located at 244 Victoria Street, while a second entrance is located at 263 Yonge Street. The musical runs for approximately two and a half hours (including the intermission).
Until April 4, tickets for the performances between April 1 and September 26 (that includes Paul's performances until August 1) were being sold at 1989 prices. This was a special because The Phantom Of The Opera opened at Pantages Theatre in 1989 and closed at the end of this season. For those of you, who happen to check out one of Paul's performances in person, please feel free to e-mail us a review or to send in any photos. |

| Memorial service for KISS producer Bruce Fairbairn | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
|
As we reported a month ago, producer Bruce Fairbairn suddenly died at age 49 on May 17. Last year he produced KISS' Psycho Circus album, which came out late September. Usually he worked at the studio in his hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada), but the KISS album was recorded at One On One Studios and A & M Studios (visited by KISS Kollector Fanclub late last year) in California.
Just before his death, Fairbairn had completed recording a new album by Yes and was expected at the Armoury Studios to mix the album. Because he didn't show up the studio manager went to his house to discover his body. A memorial service was held on Monday, May 24, at Vancouver's Chan Center. Our condolences go out to Bruce's wife Julie and his sons Scott, Kevin and Brent. |

| KISS in Germany's PlayMagazin | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
|
A photo of KISS, plus a short piece, appeared in the May issue of German magazine PlayMagazin. The article mainly deals with the cancellation of the shows in Moscow and St. Petersburg (KISS had to cancel the shows in Russia because of the Kosovo war), but also mentions how Gene was struck with the idea to put out KISS toilet paper.

Please send us a photo of yourself (preferably without make-up) sticking out your tongue in true Gene 'The Demon' Simmons style, plus a few lines in which you explain how Gene has influenced your life. If you don't feel like sticking out your tongue, any other typical Gene pose is welcome too.

| It Never Goes Away... or: we're back! | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
|
Well, well, well... Today it's one month ago that we last updated KISS Kollector Online. You might be wondering what has been going on. Don't worry: the long delay in updating the site was caused by a well-deserved holiday in Greece. Plus the fact that we had to work very hard on the June issue of KISS Kollector Magazine, which will be out shortly. There has quite some work been done 'behind the scenes' as well, to improve the web site.
We are, for example, trying to decrease downloading time and such (those efforts obviously don't show on the outside or the looks of the site, but your computer will be very happy with it no doubt) and we recently made the URL shorter, all for your convenience. The new URL for KISS Kollector Online is: kiss.animalize.com. Please update your Netscape bookmark or Internet Explorer favorite (webmasters, please update your links to KISS Kollector Online!). On top of that we also changed our e-mail address to something that is easier to remember: kiss@animalize.com. The old URL and email address still work, however. Most of the updates we had planned to go online during our holiday are included in today's updates (see below), so you don't have to miss out on the important news of the last few weeks. Quite a lot took place during our four week absence from the Net: from Paul receiving standing ovations for his outstanding role as The Phantom Of The Opera to Ace announcing the final tour of the original KISS foursome in make-up. So, without further ado, let's get on with it... |
||
| Ace announces farewell tour | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
|
On June 12, Ace was the special guest on New York's WNEW 102.7 radio station, on a show called Saturday Night Rock Show with DJ Ed Trunk. Ace shocked the KISS Army by claiming the band will be going out on a farewell tour starting late September. The Spaceman stated it's definitely the last KISS tour in make-up for the original line-up. Ace also said he's already recording tunes, with drummer Anton Fig, for a solo album. Although Ace said the final tour ends in the year 2000, fans are now fearing KISS will call it quits with a special show on New Year's Eve, December 31, 1999.
Please note that in an interview in KISS Kollector Magazine Gene mentioned a contract for five years (and possibly three more albums!), which means the band would have to continue in 2000 or even 2001 (depending on how you 'explain' the contract). In a recent interview for Canada's Much Music, Paul even said he doesn't know when the next tour will kick off. Besides, a final tour that's only going to last for three months is a bit short. The band probably prefers to milk their farewell tour until the very last dollar, instead of doing a quickie! On the other hand, some fans have already made clear they hope Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer will return and continue the band with Paul and Gene. |

| Gene and Shannon Tweed being sued by 'the nanny' | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
| Gene and his longtime girlfriend Shannon Tweed are being sued by their former housekeeper aka nanny Paula Valladares. The Salvardoran woman says she was fired by Gene and Shannon because of her race. She also claims to be subject to racist remarks by Shannon while she was working at the Simmons residence from April 1996 to February 1999. | ||
| KISS to shoot video for new single | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
| At the end of this month most probably June 28 KISS will shoot a video in Toronto (Canada) for Nothing Can Keep Me From You, the ballad off the forthcoming Detroit Rock City soundtrack album. which was written by 'songwriter of the year' Diane Warren. The band decided to shoot the video in Toronto, since Paul is starring in The Phantom Of The Opera over there and is unable to take time off. The leading actors of the movie, along with Shannon Tweed (who can be seen in the film as well) will also fly to Canada to appear in the video. | ||
| Detroit Rock City soundtrack album finalized | ||

The track listing for the upcoming soundtrack album to the Detroit Rock City movie from New Line Cinema will be as follows:

||
| Second Dutch Psycho Circus comic out now | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
| The second issue of the Dutch translation of the KISS: Psycho Circus comics is available now, as part of Image Special No. 15. The comic includes episodes 4, 5 and 6 of the original US version. Watch this space for a great contest regarding the Dutch edition of the KISS: Psycho Circus comic soon. | ||
| Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer hang out | ||
| - From KISS Kollector, JvP - | ||
|
On June 17, Poison, RATT, Great White and L.A. Guns performed at the Universal Amphitheatre. The show brought out quite some other rock stars, including ex-KISS drummer Eric Singer and ex-KISS lead guitarist Bruce Kulick (plus the other guys of UNION). Bruce and UNION, by the way, will see their debut album being reissued on July 20 on the band's new label Spitfire Records. The new version of UNION's debut album includes an extra track, a cover of The Beatles' Oh Darling.
Eric Singer who plays drums on one track of the upcoming Aerosmith tribute album will tour with Alice Cooper on Alice's new tour, starting in September. Eric will also be heading for Japan in the near future, accompanied by UNION singer John Corabi. They will be promoting the ESP album in the land of the rising sun. Andre Augustine (KISS' former head of security) will join them, to promote his book, in which he tells tales about his years with KISS and other rock stars. |
